2024 BIAZA Communications Conference

18th Nov 2024

On 13th November, Zoo Manager Jamie and Senior Keeper Lizzy were invited to speak at the BIAZA 2024 Communications Conference to zoo comms delegates from across the country.

Our dynamic duo gave a presentation on our #ShareSavvy campaign, and the impacts of irresponsible social media usage on the conservation of endangered species.

This was a particularly proud moment for us, being able to take our campaign to such a big audience of professionals at the forefront public communications within the sector. Protecting animals from the plight of the exotic pet trade and wildlife trafficking is incredibly important to us, and it’s something we all need to take action on to make a difference.

Lizzy presented her research and campaign to delegates from a variety of animal conservation organisations, exploring the impacts of social media on the welfare of wild animals and how professional zoological facilities can promote responsible social media use to help conserve vulnerable species.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to BIAZA for inviting us to this important conference. Battersea Park Children’s Zoo may be small, but our dedication to protecting wildlife is mighty, and something we will always champion.
