Sharing the passing of Rico, our prehensile-tailed porcupine

We are deeply saddened to share that our much-loved prehensile-tailed porcupine passed away in late March following a short period of illness resulting from a liver infection. 

Our team initially recognised sudden changes in Rico's behaviour, and following examinations from our vet, Rico received round-the-clock care from our expert teams to treat his condition. Unfortunately, he unable to recover from this sudden illness, despite our best efforts.

We know that our staff, members and visitors will miss him dearly due to the lasting impact he had on everyone who met him. Our thoughts and thanks are with our keepers and vet who provided Rico with the best care during his time at the zoo.
