What is your favourite species to work with at the zoo and why?
There are almost too many to choose from! If I had to pick, my favourite would have to be our corn snake. I find snakes to be one of the most fascinating species, so I will always have a soft spot for Cornflake.
Do you have a favourite conservation project or organisation to support?
The Orangutan Project. Who work to protect the wild populations of orangutans in Sumatra and Borneo through habitat protection, orangutan care centres, and rehabilitation & release programs. The main reason I love this project is because through their work they also help other endangered species native to Borneo and Sumatra, like the Sumatran tiger and Asian elephants!
If you could bring one species back from extinction, what would it be?
The Diprotodon – better known as the giant wombat! They went extinct in Australia about 40,000 years ago, and are the largest known marsupial to have ever existed (marsupials are animals that carry their young around in a pouch on their stomach, like a kangaroo or koala!).
What animal at the zoo would you say has a personality most similar to yours and why?
The Kookaburra, because they’re Australian and love a laugh!
What is your favourite thing about working at BPCZ?
There are so many things that I love about working at BPCZ. One of my favourite things would be working closely with so many amazing animals and getting to know their unique and individual personalities. I also love the fun and fast-paced work environment!
