Miniature Shetland Pony
General Information
Shetland ponies are strong hardy animals and in the past were used for carrying peat, pulling carts or even down the mines as pit ponies, although today they are often kept as children’s riding ponies. In winter their thick, heavy coats keep them warm on the coldest of days. They are highly intelligent and usually good natured.

Our Residents
Feather arrived at the Zoo on 25th July 2015. She is a show pony who has won several rosettes under her show name ‘Blackator Unruffled’. Her friends include our other resident donkeys, Dusty and Smokey.
